MATRADE Annual Report 2020 80 In 2020, MATRADE collaborated with several Ministries and Government Agencies in undertaking initiatives to promote cross-border trade through eCommerce, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, as follows: MATRADE’S COLLABORATION WITH MINISTRIES AND GOVERNMENT AGENCIES Business Matching Programme (eSSP@eKUD2020) In implementing the National Cost of Living Action Council (NACCOL) resolutions, MATRADE under the National Action Committee on eCommerce (NACE) collaborated with the Ministry of Rural Development (KPLB) to hold a Business Matching or eSeller Sourcing Programme (eSSP@ eKUD2020). This was in conjunction with the Rural Entrepreneur Carnival 2020 (eKUD) on 2-4 December 2020. This carnival was held for the first time virtually with the main objective of encouraging exports through eCommerce among local SMEs, including rural micro entrepreneurs. In addition, it aimed to raise awareness and trust in the advantages of eCommerce as a cost efficient and effective marketing medium. MATRADE took the lead in bringing together three eCommerce industry players, eSellers, B2B/B2C e-commerce platforms, and 12 exporting companies under the Rural2Global Programme operated by the Ministry of Rural Development (KPLB). The results were as follows: eSWAT Programme The eSWAT programme is an initiative under the National Economic Recovery Plan (PENJANA) which aims to increase involvement of SMEs in eCommerce. MATRADE partnered with MDEC to identify 13 companies, including nine exporters, under the Exporters Capacity Development Programme and BWYEDP by MATRADE to participate in this pilot project from October 2020 to March 2021.
