Spurring Exports In The New Norm MATRADE Core Purpose 63 01 02 03 04 05 Halal, Food & Beverages and Agro Sectors Lifestyle & Life Sciences Sectors (Medical Equipment & Pharmaceuticals) MATRADE participated in the Gulfood trade fair for the 16th time at Dubai World Center from 16 - 20 February 2020. A total of 103 Malaysian companies participated at the Malaysia pavilion. In addition to Malaysian companies, several federal and state government agencies also participated namely Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC), Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA), Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) as well as Department of Industrial Development and Research (DIDR), Sabah. Arab Health is among the largest exhibitions in the world for the medical and health sectors. In 2020, Arab Health recorded the participation of more than 4,000 exhibitors and 57,000 visitors specifically from United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) region. MATRADE coordinated the participation of 18 Malaysian companies in Arab Health 2020 to increase exports of medical devices and healthcare services in the MENA market. Malaysia's 16th participation in this exhibition aimed to further strengthen the country's reputation as a manufacturer of high quality medical devices and world-class healthcare services to explore export opportunities in the Among products on display were various beverage products, instant food, snacks, cooking oils, frozen foods, sauces & pastes, food ingredients and foods for specific purposes. Malaysian companies successfully established business networks with importers, distributors and procurement centres mainly from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), South Asia and European regions. MATRADE successfully promoted Malaysian brands to more than 80,000 trade visitors from 150 countries in attendance. MENA market which is expected to reach RM33.31 billion (USD7.92 billion) by 2025. A total of 828 business matching sessions between Malaysian companies and potential importers were organised during the exhibition. Medical devices such as surgical sutures, humidifiers, syringes and catheters were among products in high demand. Healthcare services such as rehabilitation and sleep disorder therapy were also promoted at the exhibition. As a result of business matching sessions, Malaysian companies successfully established strategic business networks through the appointment of local agents to import and distribute products and services in the UAE and MENA markets.
