36 MATRADE Annual Report 2020 Central Asia Trade with the Central Asia recorded an increase of 9.4% to RM728.1 million compared to RM665.3 million in 2019. Major trading partners in the region were Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. Collectively, these countries accounted for 98.5% share of total trade to the region. Exports to the region grew by 7.9% to RM675.4 million due to higher exports of E&E products, rubber products as well as optical and scientific equipment. In 2020, E&E products was the major export product, accounted for 32.8% share of total exports to the region, followed by palm oil and palm oil-based agriculture products (22.9%) as well as palm oil-based manufactured products (10.3%). Imports from the Central Asia increased by 34.3% to RM52.7 million. Main imports were chemicals and chemical products, manufactures of metal and transport equipment. Kazakhstan was the largest export market for Central Asian market, accounting in the 64.2% share of total exports to Central Asia. Exports to Kazakhstan increased by 61.4% to RM433.6 million, on account of higher exports of E&E products, rubber products as well as optical and scientific equipment. Major export products to Kazakhstan were E&E products (47.7% share), palm oil and palm oil-based agriculture products (10.9%) as well as palm oil-based manufactured products (8.5%). Imports from Kazakhstan increased by 19.7% to RM16.6 million. Main imports were manufactures of metal, transport equipment as well as chemicals and chemical products.
