Spurring Exports In The New Norm MATRADE Core Purpose 109 01 02 03 04 05 Malaysia's participation for the 17th time in the China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) from 27 - 30 November 2020 in Nanning, Guangxi Province, China aimed to further strengthen regional economic ties through the China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (ACFTA) as an annual programme by the Chinese government. CAEXPO is among the largest international trade fairs in China involving participation of all ASEAN countries as well as local companies throughout China. CAEXPO with the theme, "Jointly Building the Belt and Road Initiatives (BRI), Invigorating Digital Economy," was held in a hybrid format following the pandemic, enabling Malaysian companies to participate both physically and virtually. MATRADE coordinated the participation of 58 Malaysian companies in CAEXPO 2020. A total of 26 companies’ representatives were in physical attendance while the remaining 32 including companies under the Department of Industrial Development and Research (DIDR) and East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC) participated virtually. 17TH CHINA-ASEAN EXPO (CAEXPO) 2020 Among goods and services promoted included food and beverages as well as healthcare and professional services. CAEXPO 2020 also received support from representatives of other Malaysian Government Agencies in China such as the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Tourism Malaysia, Education Malaysia and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries (MAFI) which also operated an information booth at the Malaysia pavilion. MATRADE also collaborated with China Construction Bank (CCB) and the CAEXPO Secretariat in organising virtual business meetings under the "2nd China-Malaysia B2B Business Meeting Session" where a total of 100 sessions were organised for Malaysian companies.
