MATRADE Annual Report 2020 96 Apart from the BWYEDP programme which is fully managed by MATRADE, strategic relationships have also been established with several Government agencies to collaborate in Bumiputera-related programmes as below: COLLABORATION PROGRAMMES WITH AGENCIES FOR EXPORT DEVELOPMENT OF BUMIPUTERA SMEs Bumiputera Initiative for Globalisation (B.I.G) Galakan Eksport Bumiputera (GEB) Business Exporters Programme (BEP2.0) MATRADE is the implementing agency for the Bumiputera Initiative for Globalisation (B.I.G) programme under TERAJU which aims to help competitive and high impact companies expand their markets globally. Launched in 2018, the programme covers eight export promotion activities and seven export market projects involving grant recipient companies. In 2020, seven companies participated in the export market project programme. The Galakan Eksport Bumiputera (GEB) Programme is a development programme implemented by SME Corp in collaboration with Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) which offers hybrid concept initiatives, facilitation grants and soft loans to Bumiputera SMEs. The program was established to develop capacity and increase participation of Bumiputera SMEs in the export market through integrated assistance packages to explore new markets, business matching and market expansion. MATRADE, EXIM Bank and the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia are committee members in this programme. As a committee member, MATRADE provides export related information in addition to being involved at both technical and approval levels in terms of providing feedback on companies involved. BEP2.0 is a programme organised by SME Bank in collaboration with MATRADE which provides information on export opportunities and avenues for export promotion programmes. SMEs will participate in the programme for a period of three years including one year dedicated to monitoring, aimed at enhancing the export capacity of companies to penetrate the global market. In 2020, a total of 12 companies were selected to participate in the programme.
