Spurring Exports In The New Norm MATRADE Core Purpose 91 01 02 03 04 05 The key priorities are: i Increase Exporting Companies ii Increase High Value Export Goods iii Diversify Export Products iv Improve Export Ecosystem A total of three strategic themes have been identified, namely: i Build, by improving the operating environment for all exporters ii Grow, by enhancing capacities for export promotion iii Compete, by expanding Malaysia’s established excellence of products to greater heights To drive this Blueprint, a total of eight strategic thrusts have been outlined, namely: i Strengthening export ecosystem; ii Uplifting export capacity and capabilities; iii Elevating Malaysia’s strengths in exports; iv Harnessing growth through technology and eCommerce; v Facilitating and widening market access; vi Promoting Malaysia’s brands and products; vii Driving growth through investment and export diversification; and viii Pursuing sustainability and innovation. Based on the eight strategic thrusts, 40 recommendations have been outlined that require the concerted efforts of various Ministries, Agencies, State Governments and stakeholders, including the private sector involved in the trade ecosystem. The recommendations are divided into short-term and long-term measures. Short-term measures focus on ensuring the viability of businesses affected by the pandemic. The longterm measures are aimed at creating a conducive business environment and encouraging the production of high value and innovative products to ensure continued participation in the global supply chain. The NTBp is structured in line with the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMKe-12) and takes into account various export-related initiatives that have been stated in other master plans. To ensure the effectiveness of the Blueprint, it was proposed that its implementation be supervised by the JK-X chaired by the Chief Secretary to the Government with membership consisting of Secretaries General of Ministries. Seven working groups involving representatives from the public and private sectors will be responsible for implementing recommendations covering matters relating to: i Regulatory and logistics; ii Standards and conformance; iii Trade promotion and market access; iv Sustainability and innovation; v Digitalisation and technology; vi Investment; and viii Branding. In realising the NTBp, efforts and proactive mindset for continuous improvement are necessary to create an efficient trade ecosystem. The full commitment of Ministries, Agencies, State Governments and the private sector is essential in achieving this.
