MATRADE Annual Report 2020 60 Electrical & Electronics, ICT, Machinery & Equipment Sectors HIGHLIGHTS OF INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIRS MATRADE facilitated the participation of Malaysian companies in six international trade fairs and organised one international fair in 2020. These events were intended to promote the capabilities of Malaysian companies internationally, gain opportunities to explore new export markets and build networks with importers. During these exhibitions, MATRADE also enabled business matching sessions. Factory automation and industrial operations within Asia Pacific is expected to increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.8% over the next five years and is expected to be worth USD67.68 billion in 2021. This growth is driven by the interest of governments and companies in Asia Pacific countries to adapt to the development in manufacturing by applying Industrial Revolution 4.0 practices. The Asia-Pacific Industrial Transformation (ITAP) Exhibition provides a platform to promote Malaysia as a sourcing destination for technologies related to Industrial Revolution 4.0. ITAP 2020 was organised in a hybrid manner, enabling participation of industry players virtually where participants were capable of interacting and exploring business opportunities with potential buyers from 14 countries. MATRADE coordinated Malaysia's participation in ITAP 2020 virtually with a total of nine companies present at Malaysia’s virtual pavilion during the exhibition. In conjuction with this, MATRADE organised 81 virtual business matching sessions and among products and services of interest were systems integration, Industrial Revolution 4.0 consultation, big data management, IoT, collaborative and automated robot solutions as well as high-tech scanners.
