51 Spurring Exports In The New Norm Trade Performance Report 01 02 03 04 05 Manufactured goods contributed 85.9% to Malaysia’s total imports. Major imports of manufactured goods in 2020 were: • E&E products, valued at RM253 billion, accounting for 31.6% share of Malaysia’s total imports, grew by 3% compared to the previous year; • Chemicals and chemical products, RM74.3 billion, 9.3% share, ↓8.9%; • Machinery, equipment and parts, RM60.13 billion, 7.5% share, ↓13.7%; • Petroleum products, RM60 billion, 7.5% share, ↓22.6%; and • Manufactures of metal, RM47.02 billion, 5.9% share, ↓0.2%. China remained as the largest import source since 2011, followed by Singapore, the US, Japan and Taiwan. Collectively, these countries represented 54.4% of total imports. Furthermore, imports from ASEAN amounted to RM174.86 billion or 21.8% share of Malaysia’s total imports while the EU accounted for 7.4% share, with a value of RM58.9 billion.
