45 Spurring Exports In The New Norm Trade Performance Report 01 02 03 04 05 Africa Malaysia's total trade with Africa decreased by 4.9% to RM31.34 billion in 2020 compared to RM32.94 billion in 2019. Africa's largest trading partners were South Africa, Cote d'Ivoire, Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana. These countries accounted for 53.6% of total trade with Africa. The largest export market in Africa was Nigeria which represented 13.7% share to the continent, followed by South Africa (12.9%) and Kenya (11.5%). Exports to Africa increased by 2.8% to RM19.66 billion compared to RM19.13 billion in the previous year due to higher exports of palm oil and palm oilbased agriculture products, transport equipment as well as iron and steel products. In 2020, major export products were palm oil and palm oil-based agriculture products, which accounted for 44.7% share of total exports to the region, followed by petroleum products (9.4%) and processed food (8.3%). Imports from Africa contracted by 15.5% to RM11.67 billion. Main imports from this continent were natural rubber, metalliferous ores and metal scrap as well as crude petroleum. Exports to Nigeria grew by 33.7% to RM2.69 billion. The growth was due to higher exports of petroleum products, palm oil and palm oil-based agriculture products as well as manufactures of metal. Major export products to the country were palm oil and palm oil-based agriculture products (38.4% share), petroleum products (28.4%) and processed food (7.6%). Imports from Nigeria declined by 2.9% to RM861.9 million. Main imports were metalliferous ores and metal scrap, crude petroleum as well as LNG.
