Mexico was Malaysia's major trading partner in Central America with 81.1% share, followed by Costa Rica (12.2%) and Panama (3%). Exports to the region increased by 1.9% to RM10.33 billion, on account of higher exports of E&E products, optical and scientific equipment as well as rubber products. Major export products to the region were E&E products with 66% share, followed by optical and scientific equipment (5.2%) as well as machinery, equipment and parts (3.9%). Imports from Central America grew by 3.9% to RM2.12 billion. Main imports were E&E products, optical and scientific equipment as well as transport equipment. Mexico was the largest export market in Central America, accounting for 81.4% share of total exports to the region. Exports to Mexico declined by 7.2% to RM8.41 billion due to lower exports of E&E products, manufactures of metal and other manufactures (mainly SSD). Major export products to the country were E&E products (70.5% share), other manufactures (mainly SSD) (4.1%) as well as manufactures of metal (3.9%) Imports from Mexico dropped by 2% to RM1.7 billion.
