40 MATRADE Annual Report 2020 In 2020, Malaysia's trade with North America recorded an increase of 8% to RM185.81 billion. Exports to North America rose by 13% to RM113.06 billion, while imports grew by 1% to RM72.75 billion. Major exports to North America were E&E products (47.6% share), rubber products (12.4%) as well as optical and scientific equipment (7.5%). Meanwhile, main imports were E&E products, chemicals and chemical products as well as machinery, equipment and parts. Major trading partner was the US which accounted for 96.2% share of total trade in North America, followed by Canada (3.8%). Malaysia’s trade with the US in 2020 grew by 8.2% to RM178.79 billion. Exports to the US which represented 96.5% of Malaysia's total exports to the North America, increased by 13% to RM109.08 billion. The growth was supported by increase in exports of rubber products, wood products as well as other manufactures (mainly SSD). Major export products to the US were E&E products (48.5% share), rubber products (11.7%) as well as optical and scientific equipment (7.7%). Imports from the US recorded an increase of 1.5% to RM69.7 billion. The major imports were E&E products, chemicals and chemical products as well as machinery, equipment and parts.
